Travis Thompson
![]() Travis Thompson was born in 1962 and was raised in Harris County, Texas. He attended the University of Texas and the University of Houston, and received his Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1989. Travis Thompson has been licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas since 1990, and is also licensed to practice in the United States Federal Courts for the Southern District of Texas. Travis Thompson has an extensive family law and civil practice encompassing such matters and fields as divorce, child custody and child support, adoptions, paternity proceedings, marital property agreements, premarital and cohabitation agreements, and other family-related proceedings or transactions. Travis Thompson also represents and counsels clients in consumer bankruptcy matters, and is available to handle most of his client's estate planning needs. Travis Thompson is also a seasoned courtroom and trial attorney, with experience at handling both contested jury trials, bench trials, and temporary hearings. Over the years, Travis Thompson has also successfully represented many clients in formal mediations and other settlement conferences. The Texas Board of Legal Specialization has certified Travis Thompson as a Specialist in the field of Family Law. Travis Thompson was first certified in 1998, and has remained certified and recertified since that time. Travis Thompson's professional credentials further include a term served as President of the Houston Northwest Bar Association, as well as involvement as an active member on committees reviewing and revising the Local Rules of Practice for the Harris County Family Courts. Travis Thompson is a member of the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section and the Houston Bar Association Family Law Section, as well as a past or current member of such esteemed professional associations as the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists and the Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists. Travis Thompson has also written and spoken on various family law matters, to both professional and social groups, throughout the State of Texas. |
